About The Role
Reporting to the General Manager we are looking for a skilled Project Manager who can also complete some tendering functions as required:

  • Project Manage various projects across defence, industrial, commercial construction
  • Hands on site supervision to deliver multiple projects smoothly
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget to a high quality
  • Produce high quality and competitive tenders
  • Negotiate and manage the efficient supply of direct & subcontractor labour and materials
  • Develop strong business relationships with clients, prospective clients, contractors and suppliers
About You
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction Project Management and possess the following:
  • Experience in project management in the HVAC commercial space
  • Experience coordinating contractors and company trades
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve on the spot
  • High attention to detail
  • Relevant HVAC trade qualification or mechanical tertiary degree (highly desirable)
  • Good leadership skills with the ability to be a strong brand ambassador
  • Sound computer skills
  • Be able to travel where required

About Your Role

Based in Darwin, as a Senior Commercial Estimator, you will be accountable to the Business Performance Manager for designated Survey and Quote (S&Q) activities involving Thales personnel and our Subcontractors and Suppliers as well as the overall administration for S&Q Project toolsets. You will operate at both a strategic and operational level in the and will play a critical part in proposals, management and reporting of S&Q activities.

  • S&Q project management and controls including but not limited to budgeting, scheduling, OQE/certification, and reporting
  • Direct engagement of subcontractors and suppliers within delegated level of authority and responsibility and in accordance with Thales policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the development of the Survey & Quote (S&Q) master schedule and Register, including periodic reviews with Departmental managers and Business Performance Manager
  • Develop and monitor all Scope of Work and Proposals documentation for S&Q activities
  • Anticipate and provide solutions to meet customer needs
  • Assist in development and implementation of S&Q projects including identification Maintenance Windows of Opportunity to ensure S&Q programming meets all requirements for work to be undertaken

How About You?

  • Qualifications in the areas of Project management, Engineering, Finance/Commercial or suitable experience that provides similar competencies is highly desirable
  • A high degree of understanding and experience in operational areas of project and contract management including project controls, estimation, scheduling and team resourcing/selection
  • Proven ability to communicate in a positive manner with internal and external customers.
  • Technical or Tender/Proposal writing, including the costing and preparation of formal submissions.

RPS has an exciting opportunity available for an Assistant Project Manager seconded to the Base Redevelopment Office (BRO) team on a fixed term contract until December 2021 initially, located at the RAAF Base Tindal located near Katherine NT in the role of a Base Administration Support.  Reporting to the Base Redevelopment Officer, this position will assist and support the BRO team in coordinating infrastructure project works on the Base, enquiries and undertake administrative duties.

Qualifications required

  • Studying for or attained a Certificate IV in Project Management, Business / Finance, Construction / Engineering (desirable);
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in the construction industry (desirable);
  • Hold or be able to successfully obtain a minimum Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance;
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail;
  • Understanding of or ability to understand working in a Values Based Organisation (Air Force Values);
  • Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced work environment;
  • Well-developed written and spoken communication skills;
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Ability to use Microsoft Project is not essential but would be desirable; and
  • Residents of Katherine are highly desirable.
