We are seeking a Power Generation Field services Technician to work from our Darwin branch, servicing our industrial customers in and around the Darwin region, however you must be flexible to travel around NT.  This key role will mainly be field based and will require you to work with customers in the area to carry out routine maintenance and equipment repair tasks as directed.  You will Investigate, research, troubleshoot and recommend solutions for operational and maintenance problems and manage repairs as necessary.  Ensuring the safety of yourself and others at all times by following Site HSE Management system policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities…

• Working on generators sets & engine control panels – trouble shooting diagnostics on engines up to 3750KVA
• Switchboard testing and maintenance & Isolating equipment for power outages
• Commissioning of new gen gets/systems, transfer switches & master controllers
• Working with 3 phase transformers
• Circuit breaker maintenance and testing
• Maintaining and repairing switch gear, insulation & battery systems
• Lead maintenance activities for assigned plant outages by agreeing scope and priority and manage plant availability
• Ensure all maintenance data is recorded and available for analysis, writing reports and other correspondence

About you…

• Relevant electrical Trade qualification (and able to operate in NT)
• Current contractor nominee licence - desirable
• Understanding of HV systems and operations
• Understanding of Cummins PLC systems & relay logic - desirable
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings and procedures
• Computer literacy skills with proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite of products
• Proven ability to perform detailed fault finding on complex power generation systems
• Strong attention to detail, problem solving and a high level of accuracy to enable resolution of administrative, operational or maintenance issues
• Previous power station experience highly desirable
• Excellent teamwork and customer service skills

Duties and Responsibilities

• Undertaking servicing, diagnostics or repairs on heavy road transport or trucks for customers onsite
• Attending customer breakdowns as needed
• Service and repair to hydraulic components and systems onsite
• Hose making as required
• Replenish stock in truck on a regular basis adhering to stock control procedures
• Provide own tooling necessary to undertake core duties per trade

Skills and Experience

• MR licence needed or the ability to obtain
• Trade qualified preferred – light vehicle, small engine,heavy diesel, fitter & turner, fitter machinist all suitable
• Very experienced Trades Assistant could also be considered
• A white card or the ability to obtain
• A strong work ethic and pride in workmanship
• Flexibility with working hours as "after hours" availability is a pre-requisite
• Ability to work well within a team
• Experience in hydraulics would be beneficial
• Previous experience is desirable
